Pinot Noir
Southern Highlands, New South Wales
Made from a single Pinot Noir Clone, MV6. MV stands for Mothervine - this was the first clone of Pinot Noir, displaying great berry fruits and a bright purple hue.
There is a resolute integrity to this: elevated sourcing, hand picking and a noble dedication to what is arguably the clone best suited to Australian conditions. Which, frankly, are seldom suited to pinot noir. A curb of vanillin oak frames sour cherry, damson plum, root spice and a carnal underbelly of forestry and mulch. Fine, pointed aromas. The palate boasts mid-weighted sap, tension and a welcome reticence, auguring well for several years in bottle. An intriguing wine, in the very best sense. A benchmark of the region.
